Here’s one I’ve not seen before: a handsome box in green and stained wood with a gold logo. When I spotted this one I latched onto it before it got away and now that I’ve finished working on it, I think it was worth the effort.
The Andalusian Bull box will hold twelve pens, each up to 6 3/4″ long, in individual velour-flocked full-length compartments. You’ll see my Montblanc 149 in the center in the pictures below, so that should give you a good idea of the size of pens this box can hold comfortably.
Inside, I smoothed all exposed wood surfaces, then stained and varnished the rims of the lid and base, plus the inside of the base. I added a small spacer, stained to match, in each end of the base. The gold ribbons you’ll see in the pictures were added to serve as lid stops so that the lid does not fall open all the way. The Hunter Green pen tray matches the green of the lid and interior artwork very nicely, and the combination of the stained wood and green lining makes a wonderful showcase for your pens.
A 2mm thick foam pad, cut to fit the bottom of the box, is there to keep the box steady and to avoid marring your desk or table surfaces.
The box measures 12 1/2″ wide by 7 1/2″ front to back, and 1 1/2″ deep. A “brass” latch provides secure closure for the lid.
