SOLD: Round Vertical Box for Eleven Pens

Tatuaje round box pen with lid and pensThis Tatuaje Decimo Anibersairo box is made of solid black heavy molded plastic with a twist-lock lid.  The exterior is decorated with the Tatuaje logo embossed into the plastic, also in black.

Inside, I have adapted it to hold eleven pens in individual, soft-lined compartments, plus a center container for miscellaneous items.

The pen compartments are lined with a combination of black microsuede cloth and black felt, so the pens will never touch one another nor any other surface.  At the bottom, there is a foam pad covered with black felt where the tip of the barrel will rest.

In the center, there is a plastic container with a two inch inside diameter for your ink cartridges, an ink bottle, odd pencils or ballpoints, etc.

The lid clicks closed with a short turn.  Closed, the round box measures 6 ¾ inches tall and 4 inches in diameter.

The eleven pens pictured include a Sheaffer Crest, Parker 51, Sheaffer PFM, Parker Vacumatic Major, Waterman Phileas, Acme Studio Science, Nemosine, Schrade Tactical, Lamy Safari, and two Sheaffer Imperials.  The largest of these is the Schrade, at 5 ¾ inches long and ½ inch in diameter.  My “fattest” pen is a Montblanc 149, and it will not quite fit into the compartments.

Also shown in the photos is a bottle of Noodler’s ink sitting in the center container with room to spare.

Some Vertical Pen Storage Options – All SOLD

Webster, MiCubano, El Producto closedI have several cigar boxes that will make excellent vertical pen storage boxes for your desktop.  These are unfinished, so I can work with you to design exactly what you need.

Large boxes – 20 to 25 pen capacity – on hand include: El Producto Queens, MiCubano, and Corina Eagles.  I also have two smaller boxes with 9 pen capacity from Tatuaje.  The El Producto and Cornia boxes are vintage boxes, while the MiCubano and Tatuaje boxes are modern.

I have made a couple of vintage boxes for customers in the past, and I am including pictures of one of them, a Webster Directors vintage box, as an example.  You can see in those pictures that I built in two platforms, one about 1/2″ from the bottom and the other about 2 1/2″ above the lower one.  Holes in the two platforms are lined with felt to protect the pens and there is a layer of felt under the lower platform to cushion the tips of the barrels.

The larger boxes are about 4 1/2″ square.  The smaller Tatuaje boxes are about 2 1/2″ square.

Note that the three boxes pictured together have not been finished at all.  The individual pictures of the Webster and the Corina show “after” sanding and varnishing.  The Tatuaje box does not include the cigar!

UPDATE:  I’ve finished the El Producto “Queens” box for a customer and added pictures of it to the gallery below.

Prices for these boxes will be determined by your choices, but will be approximately $45 to $50 for the larger boxes and $35 for the Tatuaje boxes.  Shipping is extra.

Pens at the ready, but protected – SOLD

Here’s a new idea.  I came across a tall, slender box from Tatuaje Cigars and wondered how I might be able to use it.  A suggestion from a customer combined with my own thoughts and the result is The Recliner – desktop pen protection for your current rotation.

The box measures 3 1/2″ square by 8″ tall and has a sliding lid.  It is finished in Minwax “Gunstock” stain plus three hand-rubbed coats of satin polyurethane varnish.  The bottom of the box is covered with 2mm thick foam to prevent sliding.  I have left the colorful cigar box labels as they originally were affixed to the box.

Opening the lid reveals the handle used to lift six pens into ready position.  Pull the handle up, flip the support sideways, and the pens sit nicely at the ready, nibs up as they should be.

Each pen is supported at two points where the only contact is with soft felt.  When you want your pens out of sight, yet readily available for use, simply lower them back into the box and slip the lid into place.

The Recliner is priced at $25 plus shipping SOLD.  If you are interested, please email me with your location for a shipping quote.
