SOLD: Pen and Ink Pair

Toro and Gordo closed

Here’s a pair of matched boxes, one for ten of your pens and one for your ink bottles.  Repurposed from Jaime Garcia boxes, these are very nicely made, with finger jointed corners.

I’ve added lid stop ribbons to the pen box to prevent its lid from opening too far (that was not necessary for the ink box), and varnished the interior wood surfaces with Minwax polyurethane varnish.  I chose some beautiful green microsuede fabric to line both boxes.

I used a different sort of pen rest in this box, made of scalloped wood, lined with the same green microsuede.  Each pen is safely held separate from its neighbors and only touches the microsuede lining.

The pen box measure 9 1/4 inches by 7 inches by 2 1/4 inches and each of the ten pens can measure up to 6 1/8 inches long.  My MB 149 fits with room to spare.

The ink box measures 8 inches by 6 3/4 inches by 3 1/2 inches.  The interior measures 7 1/4 inches by 6 inches by 3 1/4 inches – not quite deep enough for Noodler’s bottles, but plenty deep for most others.  To figure out how many of your bottles will fit, please lay out a 7 1/4 x 6 inch area and arrange them in it.

The Jaime Garcia pen and ink pair, holding ten pens plus your ink, is priced at $60 plus shipping.  SOLD If you are interested, please email me at BamaPen@jehubbard.com and include your location or ZIP Code for a mailing cost quote.

I mail via USPS Priority Mail in the US and by USPS International First Class Package outside the US.  I take payment via PayPal.

SOLD: Ten Pen Liga Privada Box

Liga Privada open with pens

Liga Privada open with pens

Once in a while I find some of the Liga Privada boxes from Drew Estates.  These boxes are very interesting, so my goal is to repurpose them for pens without detracting from their original look.  As I get them, the exterior is unfinished wood, featuring the Liga Privada rearing lion logo and an attractive heavy paper band that completely encircles the box.  I have simply smoothed the wood with 0000 steel wool and varnished it with Minwax polyurethane varnish.  A 2mm foam pad on the bottom serves to prevent scratches on your surfaces.

Inside, I retained the important looking Liga Privada label, and fit two sets of five pen slots in each half of the box.  I lined the pen compartments and pen slots with a faux leather microsuede fabric.  The brown texture of the faux leather really enhances the overall appearance of the box.

The pen box measures 13″ by 5 3/4″ by 1 1/4″ and will hold ten pens in individual pen slots with each pen being up to 5 7/8″ long – plenty long enough even for a MB 149.

The Liga Privada Ten Pen Box is priced at $50 plus shippingSOLD

If you are interested, please email me at BamaPen@jehubbard.com and include your location or ZIP Code for a mailing cost quote.

SOLD: Pen and Ink and Pen…

All three Liga Privada boxes

All three Liga Privada boxes

Once in a while I find some of the Liga Privada boxes from Drew Estates.  Their design is striking, and there is a complimentary box suitable for ink.  Recently it happened again, two of the Unico Series boxes – good for ten pens – and one No. 9 box – great for ink bottles – turned up at one time.  Needless to say, I grabbed them!

These boxes are very interesting, so my goal is to repurpose them for pens and ink without detracting from their original look.

I did use two slightly different faux leather fabrics in the two boxes.  Other than that, they are identical.

The ink box is lined with the same faux leather as one of the pen boxes.  Like them, its bottom is covered with a 2mm foam pad.  The ink box is plenty deep to hold even those tall Noodler’s ink bottles – see the pictures below.  SOLD

The pen boxes measure 13″ by 5 3/4″ by 1 1/4″ and will hold ten pens in individual pen slots with each pen being up to 5 7/8″ long – plenty long enough even for a MB 149.

The pen box and ink box with matching faux leather linings are being offered as a pair, priced at $70 plus shipping. SOLD

The separate pen box is priced at $50 plus shippingSOLD

SOLD: Pen and Ink Pair

Jaime Garcia Toro and Gordo

This pair of Jaime Garcia boxes is an excellent combination for your pens and ink bottles.  The boxes match nicely in exterior finish, with rounded corners featuring finger jointed construction for long life.

The Toro, for pens, measures 9 1/4″ by 7″ by 2″ and holds nine pens, each up to 6 3/16″ long.

Inside, I have varnished surfaces for a smooth finish and added a black, velvety flocked pen tray with nine individual slots for your pens.  Each slot is nearly 1/2″ deep and 3/4″ wide, easily accommodating very large pens.  The velvety flocking gives the pens a soft surface for protection.

The Gordo, for ink, measures 8″ by 6 3/4″ by 3 3/4″ outside and the ink compartment, lined with a black felt bottom, measures 7 1/8″ by 5 7/8″ by 3 1/8″ deep.  Please measure your ink bottles to be certain that they will fit.  As with the Toro, I have varnished the interior surfaces.

I’ve added a 2mm foam pad on the bottom of the boxes to protect your surfaces and prevent sliding.

The Jaime Garcia Toro and Gordo are offered for sale as a pair for $60 plus shipping  SOLD.  If you are interested, please email me at BamaPen@jehubbard.com and be certain to include your location or ZIP Code for a mailing cost quote.

SOLD: Edgar Allan Poe Pen & Ink Box

Here’s a Saint Luis Rey Rothchilde box that has been converted to hold five pens and  a dozen or so ink bottles – depends on the bottle shape – including Noodler’s.  Not only that, but I’ve finished the interior in shades of black and grey and added Edgar Allan Poe artwork inside the lid.

The SLR box itself is quite well made and is finished outside in matte black with a silver logo.  Inside, I have painted all the wood surfaces black.  I have fabricated a lift-out pen tray with five individual pen compartments.  The tray and pen compartments are lined with grey faux leather – very soft – to go along with the dark Edgar Allan Poe theme. The inside of the lid is fitted with Poe-themed artwork featuring a portrait of Poe and a number of his well-known quotes.

The Edgar Allan Poe Pen & Ink Box is priced at only  SOLD It is ready for immediate shipping.  If you are interested, please click here to email me for a shipping cost quote.  Be sure to include your location or ZIP code.

SOLD: Perdomo Pair – one for pens, the other for ink

Perdomo Lot 23 Pair closedHere’s a matched pair of Perdomo Lot 23 boxes – Toro and Gordito –  that are just the combination for pens and ink.  The photos show them exactly as I received them, which is unfinished wood on the inside.  I will stain the inside to closely match the exterior as shown in a picture below of one I did some time ago.

The Perdomo Lot 23 Toro measures 9 1/4″ by 7 1/2″ by 2″ and will hold 9-10 pens up to six inches long.  The Gordito measures 8 1/2″ by 6″ by 3″ outside and 7 1/2″ by 4 1/2″ by 3″ inside.  It is not quite deep enough for Noodler’s bottles, but will hold most any others.

The pair will look quite nice on your desk, holding pens and ink at the ready.  I even noticed that they stack very well, and my usual 2mm foam on the bottoms will keep them from slipping or marring a surface.

You will have your choice of interior lining color.

In addition to the dark colored pair, I have one slightly mismatched pair available, with one box being more honey colored and the other being the color of the blond pair in the last picture below. The blonde set in that last picture is available.

The Perdomo Pair is offered at $55 SOLD depending on your interior choices, plus actual shipping cost.  If you are interested, please click here to email me and include your location so that I can provide a shipping cost quote.

The box measures 10″  by 6″  by 4″  tall and has a nice “antiqued” latch.

La Gloria Cubana Generoso

Unusual Box for Pens and Ink – on your desk

Here’s a really fun cigar box that will hold even the tallest bottles of ink and look great on your desk. It’s a La Gloria Cubana “Generoso” and yes, it’s hex-shaped. It measures six inches from face to face on the hex and five inches tall. The lid slides open.

The images posted here are of a box I sold previously.   I have more of these that I can complete to your specifications. Continue reading

Ashton VSG Wizard for pens and ink – SOLD

The Ashton VSG Wizard is one of the few boxes deep enough for those tall Noodler’s ink bottles.  It is relatively rare; this is only the second one I’ve found in nearly two years.  It measures 8″ by 7″ by 4 1/2″ deep and I can fit it for ink only or for a combination of pens and ink.  A combination box is especially handy on or near your desk, as it can keep your current rotation of pens plus your favorite inks ready for use, yet nicely stored. Signature House Blend – Massive Pen, Ink, or Pen & Ink Storage

This is the third Signature House Blend box that I’ve come across, and the first two were quite successful.

This box measures 9″ by 8″ by 4 1/2″ and is finished in a rich brown with a “brass” label on the front in on the inside of the lid. Continue reading
