ALL SOLD: Eleven Pen Box – The Dominant 13th

 

This box originated as the 2013 Limited Edition from Avo Uvezian Cigars.  Avo Uvezian, the owner, a celebrated jazz musician, commissions one limited edition each year – special cigars in a specially designed box.  The 2013 edition was entitled The Dominant 13th in reference to a particular musical chord frequently used in jazz.

For this edition, he wrote a short piece of music entitled “Delightful Days” using the dominant 13th chord.  The cigar box resembles a music book and inside the front cover is the music he wrote.  Opposite that originally were the cigars, plus a USB drive with a selection of his music and a video of him playing the piano.  A rare earth magnet provides positive closure.

I have rearranged the box to hold eleven pens, each up to 8 inches long, and each in its own individual compartment.  The pen compartments are flocked with Royal Blue velour to match the color of the written music.  I’ve added two strands of elastic cord to secure each pen into its compartment even if the box/book is upright.

I did not get the original USB drive with the box, but will provide the contents on a DVD.

On the front of the box, where there was once a rather unsightly paper label, I’ve added a simulated closure ribbon affixed with a fountain pen nib.  A gold silhouette of Avo Uvezian with a cigar decorates the cover.

The box/book measures 11 3/4 inches tall, 9 1/4 inches wide, and one inch thick.

Since the Dominant 13th box was a limited edition from five years ago, it is difficult to find.  I have managed to gather several to repurpose as pen boxes, but after these are gone there may not be any more available.

SOLD: Nine Pen Box – Avo Uvezian 85th Anniversary

This Avo Anniversary Edition 2011 was made in celebration of Avo Uvezian’s 85th birthday.

The exterior is finished in satin black with a bold 85th logo on the lid.  Inside, the logo is repeated on black “velvet” in the lid.  I have lined the box with black microsuede cloth and fitted it with nine individual pen compartments, each lined in the same microsuede.  As always, I have fitted the bottom of the box with a black foam pad to prevent scratching your table or desk.  The box measures 8 1/2 inches x 7 1/2 inches x 1 inch.

The box will hold nine pens, each up to 6 3/4 inches long.  Each pen is cradled in its individual compartment and touches only the microsuede lining.

Avo Uvezian La Trompeta – Pen Storage for a Music Lover – SOLD

The Avo Uvezian La Trompeta is a well-made box featuring a musical motif on the lid and a capacity of ten pens.

La Trompeta is factory finished on the exterior in a light brown stain and the image of a trumpet player.  It has finger-jointed corners which are both attractive and sturdy.  I can remove or retain the tax stamp – your choice.

Inside, I will fit my “saddle” style pen compartments in your choice of available felt or suede cloth colors.  See the home page, about halfway down, for material color images.

Since La Trompeta does not come with a latch, I will add rare earth magnets embedded in the wood for secure closure.  The bottom of the box will be covered with 2mm brown foam for a non-slip, non-marring surface to protect your desk or table top.

This is an elegant little cigar box re-purposed for fountain pen storage. It measures only 7 1/2″ by 5 1/2″ by 1 1/4″ and holds six pens up to 6 3/4″ long.

I can fit the interior with microfibre suede cloth lining to cradle your finest pens in velvety comfort.   You have a choice of the following colors: black, burgundy, red, linen, light tan, dark tan, Kelly green, and yellow.  The image below shows light tan.

Here’s another of the Avo Uvezian cigar boxes that can be re-purposed as elegant storage for your pens. This Double Corona box measures 8 3/4″ by 8″ by 1 7/8″ and will hold 9 pens up to 7″ long.

The Double Corona has curved sides, a pretty latch, and box-jointed corners, plus gold trim on the lid.

Another elegant cigar box that can be re-purposed to store your pens beautifully and safely. This box is very similar to the Avo Uvezian Small Corona offered here, but just a bit larger. It measures 8″ by 7 1/2″ by 1 5/8″ and will hold 9 pens up to 7″ long.
